George Fernandez is the dreamer and the doer behind the Latino Connection. Alongside his partner (and cousin) Gleider Ciprian, who runs the Dominican office, George turned a vision into reality to help address a growing need in the Latino community. George recognized the lack of knowledgeable and reliable resources to help businesses connect with the growing Latino population. Translation services were either costly or lacking in quality and there was no single organization that understood and addressed the unique needs of this community.
Prior to pouring his heart and soul into the Latino Connection, George worked with Highmark Blue Shield where he assisted in educating 4.9 million members about healthcare products and programs. Being bilingual, George offered a valuable set of skills that helped him reach an important sector of the market. As more and more businesses sought out George’s skills to help them also connect with the Latino Community, George quickly realized the need and the opportunity that existed. As a result, the Latino Connection was born!
George remains heavily involved in the local community. He is a loyal and tireless volunteer for various causes and organizations. George has also received many prestigious honors including: the Jefferson Award; Central Penn Business Journal’s “Forty Under40″; and is a graduate of Leadership Harrisburg. George is truly an advocate – and an inspiration – for the Latino community.
